What Spectrum Sports Inc. requested was a product that would time climbers as they raced their way up the wall. They wanted the system integrated with race lights, similar to the type used in drag races, as well as an LED display to show the climbers times.

We were able to develop all the features Spectrum Sports wanted in the SpeedRock. The race lights are mounted on top of the wall in a specially designed shroud which houses the controller, speaker, and large LED display.

However, we added much more to the product. It can time up to four lanes simultaniously. It has two modes of operation, a "Race Mode" where climbers compete head to head, and a "Timer Mode" where climbers are individually timed. There is also an interactive sound system.

In Race Mode up to four lanes can be raced at once, depending on the wall. While the race is in progress the running time is displayed. At the end of the race all the times and places of the racers are shown. The SpeedRock also has the option for sound, where race effects such as announcing the winner, and race music are played.

When the SpeedRock is in Timer Mode, the climbers are timed individually, with their results being posted as they finish. This allows the climbers to start off at different times and compete against nothing but the clock.

The SpeedRock also sets off all the bells and whistles when a climber beats the best time of the day. The system is a fun, interactive add-on to an already great product.
