Smart Wire
Dobco Enterprises first debuted the Wacky Wire nearly 20 years ago, since then it has become a standard in almost every Carnival and Theme Park around the world. The game has changed aesthetically over the years, yet the features have remained the same, until now ...

What We Added |

And so Smart Wire was born, we developed a new controller for the wacky wire which added accounting, stock tracking, and interactive sounds that interact with the patrons.

The Challenge |
In the past, the problem with implementing any type of accounting feature to the Wacky Wire was that the game depended on demos and free tries to sell it. Therefore, keeping track of revenue would be difficult since the demos would throw off any totals. What we had to do was come up with a way to differentiate between actual games and demos.

The
Solution |
We used various systems we developed in the past to come up with the solution. By developing a sound system for the Wacky Wire we now had a way to differentiate between a game and a demo. By using iButtons we now had a secure, trackable way to switch to game mode.
If a game is not being played the unit is in demo mode. While in this mode an operator can give demos and free tries, but the system will only play simple sounds. The system will actually tease the patron if they win on a free try, for example it would say "Great job, all you forgot to do was pay".
When somebody wants to play a game, the operator uses an iButton to activate the Smart Wire. During games, the Smart Wire plays music and teases the patron. Using the iButton's memory, we can now keep track of how many units an operator activated, and also track how much stock they gave out. The system tracks both single-play and multi-play games.
The new Wacky Wire controller debuted in 2003 to positive feedback |
