What we thought the market needed was a system that would track how many times a wall was climbed. This is important in many areas, in particular cash control, if you know how many times the wall has been climbed you know how much money was generated.

What Bright Ideas developed was a Wall Management System (WMS) that was simple to operate and install.

The challenge was finding a way to obtain a signal each time the wall was climbed. What we did was take advantage of the "auto-belay", a hydraulic/pneumatic belaying system used for each lane of the wall. Since the belay moves as a climber makes their way up the wall, we now had something to obtain a count from. We fastened magnets and sensors to the auto belay, making it possible to obtain a signal each time a route was climbed.

A sturdy control box fastened permanently to the base of the wall stores the climbs for each lane, along with the times and dates of the climbs. The information is displayed on an LCD screen. iButton's are used as a security key, making it impossible to tamper with the system. There is also a 60 day log of all climbs for all lanes. The system also lets you know if the power has been tampered with.

The WMS has recently debuted on the market and is being very well received.
